Agricultural Production Specialist

Summary

ME&A is recruiting a local, short-term Agricultural Production Specialist for USAID/Kenya & East Africa. The USAID/Kenya & East Africa mission (Kenya Feed the Future) is to sustainably reduce hunger, malnutrition, and poverty in the Feed the Future (FTF) Zone of Influence (ZOI) through sustainable increases in agricultural productivity, nutrition-sensitive production, and inclusive and competitive market systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise related to the analysis of the design, implementation and effectiveness of agricultural production components of the activity in the selected crops, dairy and livestock value chains.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in agriculture, agricultural economics, animal health, veterinary science or any other related field.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in designing, implementing, managing and/or evaluating agricultural production/development projects.
  • Must have experience working with crops, dairy and livestock value chains in developing countries.
  • Excellent and demonstrable report writing skills.
  • Level 4 English.

Governance and Policy Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise related to the analysis of the design, implementation and effectiveness of institutional strengthening (including the Ward development Program)
  • Policy activities intended to sustainably increase agricultural productivity, nutrition-sensitive production, promote inclusive and competitive market systems and reduce poverty.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in law, political science, public administration, governance or any other related field.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in implementation, management and/or evaluation of governance activities related to institutional strengthening, review, development and implementation of policy in the agricultural sector.
  • Experience working with various levels of government from national, county to sub county level.
  • Excellent and demonstrable report writing skills.
  • Level 4 English.

Nutrition Specialist

Summary

ME&A is recruiting a local, short-term Nutrition Specialist for USAID/Kenya & East Africa. The USAID/Kenya & East Africa mission (Kenya Feed the Future) is to sustainably reduce hunger, malnutrition, and poverty in the Feed the Future (FTF) Zone of Influence (ZOI) through sustainable increases in agricultural productivity, nutrition-sensitive production, and inclusive and competitive market systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise related to the analysis of the design, implementation and effectiveness of nutrition activities intended to improve nutritional status, especially of women and children.

Qualifications

  • At least a master’s degree in home economics, food nutrition studies or related field
  • At least 10 years’ experience in designing, implementing, managing and/or evaluating nutrition sensitive activities.
  • Excellent and demonstrable report writing skills.
  • Level 4 English.

Market Systems/ Private Sector Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise related to the analysis of the design, implementation and effectiveness of market systems components of the activity in the selected crops, dairy and livestock value chains.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in agribusiness, agricultural economics, business administration, economics or any other related field.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in designing, implementing, managing and/or evaluating agricultural business development, private sector development or market systems development activities.
  • Experience working with FTF crops, dairy and livestock value chains in developing countries will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to interact with various stakeholders in agricultural and food systems from government to farmers will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent and demonstrable report writing skills.
  • Level 4 English
