KEMRI Internship

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established in Kenya in 1979 through the Science and Technology (Repealed) Act, Cap 250 of the Laws of Kenya operated under the Science Technology and Innovation Act, 2013 as the national body responsible for carrying out research in human health in Kenya. Currently, KEMRI operates under Legal Notice No. 35 of March 2021.

Title: Interns (Entomology) 4 Positions

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND

Location: Kisumu

Vacancy No: CGHR/352/04/23

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have graduated with a bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and Biochemistry.

In addition, the applicants must:

  • Be a Kenyan youth below 30 years of age.
  • Should have graduated and obtained the relevant final degree certificate.
  • Provide a Certificate of good conduct.

    • Appointment is for a period of one (1) year non-renewable and is subject to the availability of funds.
    • A stipend will be paid but successful candidates will cater for their own transport, accommodation, and upkeep during this period.
    • The Interns will be expected to take up personal accident cover and medical Insurance cover.
  • KEMRI/the project WILL NOT offer employment after the completion of internship.

Title: Research Interns – 3 Positions

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND

Location: Kisumu, Nairobi

Required Qualifications

  • Be in possession of BSc. Biochemistry/Microbiology / Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Genomics or any related biological science course from a recognized institution.
  • Be Familiar with conducting extensive literature reviews
  • Conversant with basic microbial culture techniques and epidemiology
  • Be Familiar with whole genome sequence technologies and applications

Terms of Engagement:

Appointment in the Internship program will be for a period of one year. The successful candidate will be paid a monthly stipend of Ksh. 25,000 without any other benefits.
