Kengen Commences Search For New MD; How to Apply

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 24 – The Kenya Electricity Generating Company(Kengen) has commenced the search for a new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer following Rebecca Miano’s exit in October last year.

Miano exited the role after she was appointed Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, and Regional Development.

Following her exit, Abraham Serem has been serving in the role in an acting capacity.

In an advert published in the local dailies, Kengen invited applications from suitable candidates to fill the position to drive its development and long-term success.

“Reporting to the Board of directors, the job holder will be responsible for providing strategic and visionary leadership and full operational responsibility in the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic business plans approved by the board in order to achieve the company’s mandate,” the advert read.

Successful candidates for the post will be required to have a Bachelors degree in a relevant field, be a member of a professional body and have at least 15 years of experience in a large organization with five years at executive management level.

Appointment to the position will be on a contract term of three years, renewable once, subject to performance and retirement age.

“The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package in accordance with the company policy,” Kengen said.
