Laundry Assistant at Nairobi Hospital

Reporting to the Laundry Supervisor the successful candidate will carry out laundry activities in the hospital in line with established procedures and standards.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Formulate washing formula for stained loads in line with established guidelines;
• Carry out the washing of linen, wears and uniform as per set standards;
• Transport linen to different sections within the hospital;
• Clean, sanitize and maintain the laundry room in line with infection control standards;
• Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control policies, procedures and best practice as per the Hospital safety guidelines;
• Ensure all cleaning equipment and materials are used safely according to Health & Safety, departmental policies and procedures;
• Keep and maintain records of all the laundry room consumables;
• Load and unload the machines during cycles;
• Clean machines, inspect and report any breakages or malfunctions to the maintenance department;
• Ensure safety and security of the machines and the laundry room to avoid any accidents or falls;
• Participate in stock taking;
• Sort staff uniform for appropriate action including washing and repairs;
• Fold laundry items manually or mechanically in line with requirements; and
• Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Certificate in Housekeeping and Laundry Operations
• Minimum of 2 years’ laundry experience
