All crew members, regardless of whether they interact regularly with guests, must be prepared to communicate and work in English language.
All crew members are subject to our grooming standards (including in relation to visible tattoos) and employees are expected to project a professional image at all times.

Minimum requirements for applying
Ocean & Expedition

- Speak and understand English, our primary language on board
- Have a valid passport
- Be at least 21 years old

- Willing to spend 4 to 6 months onboard at the time
- Have an STCW certificate or be prepared to study and pass the exam prior to joining
- Experience in the hospitality or cruise industry is an advantage
- Degree/qualification from an hospitality academy or schooling hotel is an advantage
River

- Speak and understand English, our primary language on board
- Hospitality or shipboard experience is preferred but not required
- EU Work permits are required. If you would need to apply, there may be delays in considering your application
Mississippi

- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (green card) to work onboard the ship, as required by federal regulations
- Hospitality or shipboard experience is preferred
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for marijuana and other controlled substances
Nautical

- For nautical requirements on board the Viking Mississippi, refer to our hiring partner Edison Chouest

- For European cruises: EU Work permits are required. If you would need to apply, there may be delays in considering your application
- Officers (Ocean & Expedition) For many roles we require a Captain’s license
- Officers (River) must have an Inland Navigation Certificate
- Sailors & Engineers must have a Seaman’s book
